The Rei Jaume I Awards and Their Talent: An Innovative Casting in Operación Triunfo.

The Rei Jaume I Awards Foundation has taken a bold step by joining the auditions in Valencia for the popular TV show Operación Triunfo. Through its new campaign, “Deliberación Triunfo,” it aims to highlight talent in science and business, emphasizing the importance of voices that research, innovate, and transform the country.

During the auditions, where thousands of young people presented themselves in hopes of being selected, a scientist made an appearance with a clear and powerful message: “In Spain, we have talent that can change lives. All we ask is to be heard.” With this intervention, the goal was to emphasize that, although they are not seeking a musical career, their work is crucial for the country’s advancement.

“Deliberación Triunfo” stands as a call not to overlook the capabilities of researchers and innovators. The campaign aims to link the entertainment world with excellence in the scientific and business realms, thus promoting greater visibility for those who work with dedication and commitment.

The context of the campaign is alarming, as a study from the University of Zaragoza reveals that only 0.9% of news on television addresses scientific and technological topics. Despite increasing interest in these areas, only 12.3% of Spaniards express spontaneous interest in science.

The business landscape in Spain also presents challenges. Even though the entrepreneurial ecosystem shows signs of maturity, it struggles to gain the necessary visibility, especially in key sectors like artificial intelligence and sustainability.

With “Deliberación Triunfo,” the Foundation aims to transform these statistics by merging two seemingly divergent worlds: popular culture and the scientific field. The initiative seeks not just to entertain but also to create space for a necessary discourse about the country’s future and progress, calling for attention to those who work daily to make Spain a better place through science and entrepreneurship.
