The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has formalized the contract, valued at around 3.4 million euros (VAT included), for noise reduction in sections B and C of the Northwest Arco Highway in Murcia, currently under construction. This project includes the installation of twenty sections of metal noise barriers along approximately 17 kilometers, between the kilometer points 4.3 and 21.7 of the mentioned road.
The Northwest Arco allows the diversion of traffic coming from the north on the A-30 towards Murcia, using its ring road (MU-30) at the Alcantarilla junction. This helps alleviate heavy traffic between the Cabezas de Torres and Espinardo junctions with the A-30, diverting both long-distance traffic and traffic heading towards the northwest of Murcia.
Although the initial project for sections B and C already included noise protection measures, a new study led to reinforcing these corrective measures. As a result, twenty sections of metal noise barriers were designed with a total length of 2,117 meters and heights adjusted to current Acoustic Quality Objectives (OCA).
The formalization of the contract represents one of the final steps before work begins. Once the contract is formalized, a regulatory period will be followed for the lifting of the layout verification certificate and the start of the works. The official announcement will be published soon in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The project is part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and will be financed by NextGenerationEU funds. This plan includes actions to improve sustainability, energy efficiency, and combat noise on the State Road Network.
