Transportation Department Approves Project to Mitigate Noise on the AP-7 in Mont Roig del Camp and L’Ametlla de Mar

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has recently approved an ambitious project to reduce the noise generated by the AP-7 highway as it passes through the towns of Mont Roig del Camp and L´Ametlla de Mar, in Tarragona. This initiative is part of the second phase of the Noise Action Plan and aims to improve the quality of life of residents affected by the traffic of this important road.

The project focuses on a 3.2-kilometer stretch, between kilometer points 277.6 and 292. To address the acoustic problems detected, sound barriers will be installed on the left side of the highway. The total investment allocated for these works is 10.2 million euros, including VAT.

The sound barriers will be distributed along two specific segments: the first will extend between kilometers 277.6 and 278.8, in the El Casalot urbanization of Mont Roig del Camp. The second segment will cover between kilometers 290 and 292, crossing the municipality of L´Ametlla de Mar.

The financing for this project comes from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR), which is funded by the NextGenerationEU funds. In total, the PRTR will allocate 302 million euros to measures aimed at sustainability, energy efficiency, and noise control in the country’s road network.

This intervention represents a clear commitment from the Ministry to sustainable mobility, aligning with the sustainable development goals and energy efficiency objectives adopted by the government. For the residents of Mont Roig del Camp and L´Ametlla de Mar, this project means not only a reduction in noise pollution but also a significant improvement in their quality of life, by mitigating a problem that has been affecting them for years.
