TruMerit: A New Horizon in Professional Evaluation by CGFNS International

CGFNS International, the renowned organization that has worked on validating the education and skills of healthcare professionals, has announced its name change to TruMerit™, a decision that symbolizes a new chapter in its mission to strengthen the development of healthcare personnel globally. This change, approved by the CGFNS Board of Directors, will be implemented starting fall 2024.

With nearly five decades of experience, CGFNS has been a key player in the professional mobility of nurses and other healthcare workers, verifying their education and experience to facilitate licensure in the United States and other countries. The rebranding reflects the growing need to empower healthcare personnel to face the challenges of an ever-evolving sector.

The new name, TruMerit, evoking the idea of ‘genuine excellence’, reinforces the organization’s commitment to validating healthcare workers’ achievements globally. In addition to continuing its traditional work, TruMerit will expand its focus on researching and developing solutions that strengthen healthcare personnel education. This will include creating global standards and frameworks for specialty certifications, promoting professional growth regardless of the country in which they choose to work.

Peter Preziosi, President and CEO of the organization, commented that this change represents the beginning of a globally impactful era. He stated that “healthcare workers, equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary, can be leaders in solving current and future health challenges.”

TruMerit’s new identity will also entail a complete overhaul of the organization’s visual image, including updates to its website, client portals, credentials and certifications, as well as its social media channels. This visual transformation will begin in March and is expected to be completed by summer.

Lea Sims, Director of Marketing and Communications, who has led the name change process over the past year, emphasized that the new name reflects the mission of helping healthcare professionals advance in their careers, while maintaining the credibility built by CGFNS throughout its history.

TruMerit aims to have a positive impact on investment in human capital in the healthcare field, promoting skills that facilitate patient-centered care and ensure equity in access to healthcare services. This transition is seen as a crucial step towards a future where healthcare personnel are better prepared to face sector challenges.
