The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) will hold an unprecedented event to recognize the outstanding work of companies, institutions, and individuals who have collaborated through the Business Chair Programs. Organized by the Vice-Rectorate of Employment and Lifelong Learning, this event will be attended by former rector Francisco J. Mora and closed by the current rector, José Capilla.
During the ceremony, various awards will be granted to highlight different collaborations. The Blanca Chair stands out, initiated in 2000 with the company Cemex and later continued by Cimsa since 2021, for its longevity. Also, the career of Professor Eduardo de Miguel, who has led the Ceramics ASCER Chair since its creation in 2006, will be celebrated.
Other distinctions will include the School of Agricultural Engineering and Natural Resources (ETSIAMN), which has established 29 agreements since 2007, generating over 4.5 million euros. The Bayer Chair will be recognized for managing the largest economic contribution, surpassing 1.3 million euros since its inception in 2011.
The Stadler Chair will also be honored for promoting a significant number of internships at UPV, with 75 agreements signed. Likewise, the influence of the Business Leadership and Culture Chair on student interest and the social contribution of the Quaes-Ascires Foundation Chair will be highlighted.
The event will address the recent growth of schools, mentioning the School of Informatics Engineering (ETSINF) and the School of Civil Engineering (ETSICCP) for their numerous recent agreements. Additionally, the Torrecid Chair will be recognized for its commitment to employment activities.
María Dolores Salvador, head of the Vice-Rectorate of Employment and Lifelong Learning, stated that this tribute reflects the university’s strong commitment to the value that arises from collaboration between the academic and business sectors. “We are fully convinced of the value generated by the collaboration between the university and companies, and the richness that this collaboration offers to companies, the university, and students, in addition to the positive impact this relationship has on society as a whole,” Salvador said. The initiative underscores the positive impact that the Business Chair Programs have on the academic and business environment.
