Valencia Activa: Labor Innovation in the Face of Economic and Climate Challenges

Recently, Valencia hosted a day dedicated to promoting sectoral employment in the Valencian Community, bringing together prominent experts and professionals with the aim of addressing job opportunities in the current context. Organized by the Employment and Training Area of the City Council of Valencia, this initiative sought to offer specific strategies and inspiring examples, especially aimed at those facing economic and climate challenges.

The four-hour event, with free access, became a dynamic space for dialogue where job challenges and opportunities were discussed from various perspectives. The opening was given by Juan Manuel Badenas, Second Deputy Mayor and Councilor for Employment and Training, who emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation to solve employment issues.

The first multisectoral session, titled “Innovation in employment and entrepreneurship experiences in the current moment,” brought together experts in different areas, such as engineers and entrepreneurs, who shared their visions and experiences. Speakers like Julio Jiménez, José García, and Francisco Marín explained how innovation is transforming the current labor market.

After a brief coffee break, the second session focused on “Strategies for creating multisectoral employment after DANA.” This panel discussed collaborative measures to revitalize employment in Valencia, especially in the aftermath of the devastation caused by DANA. Participants like Luis Chinchilla and Joaquín Rieta discussed from diverse perspectives how to face the consequences of extreme weather events.

The day concluded with the third session, “Proposals, roadmaps, and tools that can be implemented for job creation,” presenting practical solutions to generate employment in both traditional and emerging sectors. Antonio Ballester and Carlota de Dios, among others, shared strategies based on their experiences that can help outline sustainable plans for the region.

At the end of the event, Badenas closed the day, which ended with a lunch that promoted networking between attendees and speakers. This initiative not only represents a significant advance in revitalizing employment and entrepreneurship in Valencia but also demonstrates the City Council’s commitment to innovation and creating opportunities in times of adversity.
