Villafontana High School from Móstoles Competes in the European Chess Contest

The Villa Fontana High School shone once again at the European Chess Competition, which took place on October 30, 2025. This event brought together students from Primary, Secondary, and High School, who faced 30 chess challenges in a limited time of 60 minutes, competing simultaneously with other schools from five European countries. The exercises were designed to adapt to the diverse ages and skill levels of the participants, creating a competitive and educational environment.

The event took place in one of the classrooms of the High School, where the excitement and dedication of the students were palpable. At the end of the day, the organizers collected the answer forms and it is expected that the official results will be announced shortly.

This year, the Villa Fontana High School reaffirmed its outstanding performance in the competition, where it has achieved good results and recognitions in various categories in previous editions. Participating in these competitions not only promotes interest in chess among students, but also strengthens essential skills such as concentration, logical reasoning, and decision-making. Fernando de Miguel, responsible for the Chess Coordination at the center, highlighted that “chess remains a pedagogical tool of great value and the educational community experiences it with enthusiasm every year.”

The director of the High School, Fernando Semprun, emphasized the relevance of this annual event, which has already become a highly anticipated event at the institution. For the next year, the High School aims to increase its number of participants and continue accumulating successes in its history, keeping chess as one of its fundamental extracurricular activities.
