Garbade, a Spanish visual artist with Swiss and Cuban roots, constructs “Gula” through a series of male portraits that interact with exuberant compositions of fruits and flowers. Inspired by the Renaissance abundance of Arcimboldo and committed to a sharp critique of contemporary opulence, the artist provides a reflective look at human nature and hedonism.
The exhibition is structured around still lifes of disorderly banquets that illustrate the inevitable decay of excess.
