Weekly Recovery Plan Newsletter: December 7th to 13th.

Between December 7 and 13, 2024, the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR) has made significant progress in implementing its initiatives funded with European funds from NextGenerationEU. The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has allocated 21.8 million euros in aid to seven private freight rail operators, within the framework of the second call of the rail eco-incentives program. This action aims to promote the use of rail for freight transport, constituting a key element in promoting sustainability in this sector.

Additionally, the same ministry has tendered two contracts totaling 36.33 million euros, aimed at expanding the sidetracks at various stations in the province of Córdoba. This extension to 750 meters aims to improve efficiency and service in freight rail transport, aligning with the strategy of promoting rail as an ecological alternative to road transport.

On the other hand, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge has allocated 156.4 million euros to 35 innovative projects in the field of independent energy storage, as well as 10 thermal storage projects. These investments, managed through the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE), highlight the Spanish government’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, making a significant contribution to the country’s ecological transition.

These initiatives represent a continuous effort to modernize and optimize transportation infrastructure and encourage energy innovation in Spain, all with the support of European funds aimed at economic recovery after the pandemic. The PRTR’s weekly newsletter also provides information on other ongoing tenders and grants, reflecting the dynamism and transparency of the Recovery Plan.
