Windows 11 Insider Build 26120.3360 Preview Announcement in Dev and Beta Channels

Microsoft has released a new version of its Windows 11 Insider Preview operating system, corresponding to Build 26120.3360, intended for the Dev and Beta channels. This update includes significant improvements for the 24H2 version of Windows 11, and although initially the updates will be optional for Beta users, it is expected that they will become recommended in the near future.

Users in the Beta channel have the freedom to update at their convenience, but they should be aware that the option to switch between the Dev and Beta channels will only be available as long as the same updates are maintained. Once the Dev channel progresses to higher versions, this possibility will close. Microsoft has advised Insiders to carefully consider their channel choice before this window closes.

Among the new features of the Build is the customization of widgets on the lock screen, which will allow users to add, remove, and rearrange elements such as weather, traffic, and sports. This feature, initially available only to users in the European Economic Area, will gradually be extended to other regions in the future. A new group policy is also introduced, allowing IT administrators to disable widgets on the lock screen without needing to disable them at the system level.

Other improvements include adjustments in how the Task Manager calculates CPU usage, aligning with industry standards, and the ability to share files directly from File Explorer with compatible apps through the context menu.

In terms of fixes, several issues have been resolved, such as failures in loading the File Explorer homepage and frequent disconnections in Remote Desktop. However, some known issues persist, including an error that can cause the build version to appear incorrect after a PC reset.

Additionally, the Snipping Tool has been updated to allow for video clips to be captured on screen, adding more functionality to the application. Microsoft remains committed to continuous improvement and adjustment of these features, encouraging users to share their feedback through the Feedback Hub.

This release highlights Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to innovation and the desire to offer users a more personalized and optimized experience on their operating system.
