Birth of the First Collective System for Deposit, Return, and Recovery of Pallets Promoted by IMPLICA.

Here’s the translation to American English:

IMPLICA has launched its first collective Deposit, Return, and Reuse System (SDDR) in an initiative aimed at revolutionizing packaging management in Spain. The presentation took place during a webinar that attracted over 200 companies, reflecting the growing interest of the industrial and commercial sector in sustainability.

Laura Sanz de Siria, General Coordinator of SCRAP, emphasized the importance of companies’ commitment to seeking sustainable alternatives. According to Sanz, this project not only responds to the demands of existing regulations, such as RD 1055/2022 and European Regulation 2025/40, but also aims to reduce operational costs through the reuse of packaging.

During the webinar, IMPLICA outlined the advantages of implementing an SDDR, emphasizing that it will allow for the reuse of packaging previously considered single-use and facilitate the transfer of ownership among participating companies. This measure will not only extend the lifespan of the packaging but also promote a circular economy model.

Pablo Mariñas, General Director of Ecophir, reaffirmed the benefits of the system, which includes the management and traceability of reusable packaging. Through the ECOPHIR APP, the life cycle of each packaging will be monitored, ensuring effective returns to the producer.

The SDDR must also comply with the obligations of the RDERE, which establishes the collection of a deposit on each packaging transaction. This strategy seeks to ensure that the final consumer returns the packaging, thereby promoting traceability and a greater commitment to sustainability.

With this new system, IMPLICA reinforces its position as a leader in environmental innovation, offering collaborative solutions that address both current and future regulatory challenges and environmental issues.
