Microsoft has taken a new step in its Windows 11 innovation strategy with the release of Build 26120.2213 (KB5045885) within the Developer Channel. This latest version, designed exclusively for Windows Insiders, introduces a series of improvements aimed at optimizing the user experience through new features and bug fixes.
One of the most interesting additions is the adjustment in the visibility of the IME toolbar. It now automatically hides when applications are in full-screen mode, a enhancement primarily aimed at users typing in Chinese or Japanese, removing unnecessary distractions during intensive use of certain applications.
However, not all new features managed to work as expected. This is the case of the gamepad keyboard layout on the on-screen keyboard, which has been temporarily disabled due to technical issues, with the promise of being reintroduced once the problems are resolved.
The fixes in this version are numerous and cover various areas of the operating system. The Start menu has significantly improved in terms of reliability, and corrections have also been made in the layout and anchoring of applications. Additionally, File Explorer has benefited from fixes that reinforce visual consistency in its navigation panel and improve the representation of RAW images.
As for the taskbar, users can now see a search box even when the bar is set to automatically hide. Issues related to the WIN + numbered position functionality on the taskbar and closing applications from it have also been addressed.
Other relevant fixes involve the inaccessibility of Dev Drives in the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), problems with system component cleanup, and rotation information queries for JPG files.
These updates provide Insiders with a preview of the technologies that may be integrated into the future 24H2 version of Windows 11. However, it is crucial to note that Developer Channel features may not reach all users, as they are subject to changes based on community feedback.
As Microsoft continues with its gradual distribution approach, users interested in experiencing the latest features first can do so by activating the corresponding option in Settings > Windows Update. This methodology aims to ensure that each feature is properly tested, thus ensuring an optimal user experience for all Windows 11 users.
The Developer Channel developer community remains essential in this process, serving as evaluators of future features that contribute to the constant development and evolution of Windows.
