Chile has officially kicked off its participation in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) 2025, taking place in Madrid from January 22 to 26. This important event serves as a key platform for the promotion of tourist destinations on a global level. On this occasion, the South American country aims to showcase its diverse tourist offerings through a booth located in pavilion number 3, where a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with the presence of Chile’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Verónica Pardo, and the Chilean Ambassador to Spain, Javier Velasco.
Throughout the four days of the fair, Chile will present the main attractions of its five macrozones: the Atacama desert in the north, the central valleys with their famous wine tourism, the southern region known for its lakes and volcanoes, the magnificent Patagonia, and the enigmatic Easter Island. Deputy Minister Pardo mentioned the significant growth of tourism in the country, highlighting that in 2024, over 5 million foreign visitors were recorded, representing a 40.4% increase compared to the previous year.
Pardo also emphasized the importance of the European market for Chile, where long-distance tourists are crucial not only for the time and money they spend, but also for their contribution to cultural exchange. In this context, the country has started positioning itself in the realm of sustainable tourism, seeking a balance that benefits both ecosystems and local communities.
Throughout 2025, Chile aims to establish itself as an international tourism hub, hosting major events such as the annual Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA) summit and the first Gastronomic Forum for the Americas organized by UNWTO. These activities aim to promote best practices in the sector and attract thousands of visitors to the nation.
Chile’s recognition is also evident in the World Travel Awards, where it was highlighted as the most comprehensive tourist destination in Latin America. This distinction underscores its diverse geography, from natural landscapes to innovative initiatives in gastronomic tourism, further solidifying its position as an attractive destination for travelers from around the world.
