Cione: Towards a Shared Future in Visual Health for Independent Opticians (2024-2027)

Cione Optics Group has launched its 2024-2027 Strategic Plan, an ambitious project designed to consolidate its position as a leader in the optical sector and strengthen its role as the “common home” for independent opticians. This plan is supported by four essential pillars: expanding product offerings, implementing excellent logistics, creating new growth opportunities for optical professionals, and management focused on excellence.

The current macroeconomic context, characterized by stability in interest rates and controlled inflation in both Spain and Europe, has allowed Cione to approach this plan with confidence. However, the optical sector faces a scenario of corporate concentration, which poses a challenge for independent opticians. Miguel Ángel García, general manager of Cione, emphasizes the need to protect the independence of partners from the competition of large chains, while also seeking opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Another challenge facing the sector is rapid technological innovation. Manufacturers are introducing new treatments and advanced tools for visual analysis, which Cione seeks to capitalize on to offer its partners an immediate return and help them stay at the forefront.

The mission of the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan is clear: to provide independent opticians with the best growth options in the sector, through a differential offering of products and services that allow them to monetize their services and provide an exceptional experience to their patients. To achieve these goals, Cione is committed to working under values such as trust, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.

The first pillar of the plan focuses on improving the product offering, with an emphasis on optimizing all categories under its brand and ensuring a competitive quality-price ratio. The second pillar addresses logistics, considering the expansion of the central warehouse in Las Rozas (Madrid) and the introduction of a new robotic system that will improve operational performance.

The third pillar seeks to create new growth horizons for opticians, both inside and outside the office. Within the establishment, digitalization systems for visual examination and training for patients with low vision will be implemented, while outside the office, digital marketing services and tools to maintain patient loyalty will be offered.

The fourth pillar focuses on management excellence, which includes a new software developed with sector experts that promises to optimize the patient’s visual analysis process.

Sustainability is a key aspect of this Strategic Plan, in which Cione has begun to integrate ESG criteria into its management. The company has certifications such as ISO 9001, 14001, and 13485, and published its first Sustainability Report in February 2024, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and social responsibility.

Finally, the Ruta de la Luz Foundation, a project in corporate social responsibility, reinforces Cione’s social commitment, which has been promoting cooperation initiatives in the optical sector for 25 years. With this Strategic Plan, Cione reaffirms its dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability, positioning itself as a reference for independent opticians in the years to come.
