Complete Guide to AleaSoft’s Forecasts for Operations in the Energy Market and Production and Demand Planning.

Elena Carrascosa de Canal CEO interviewed Antonio Delgado Rigal, Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, founder and CEO of AleaSoft Energy Forecasting, for Menudas Empresas on The Objective. Key topics discussed in the conversation included the collaboration between academia and industry, the importance of having a qualified team, and the various services offered by AleaSoft, a pioneering company in the use of artificial intelligence in the energy sector with 25 years of experience. Future challenges in the energy sector were also discussed.

One of the initial topics was the longstanding demand from the business sector for an educational offering more connected to the market reality. AleaSoft is a clear example of how collaboration can work effectively. Regarding the benefits of being a spin-off of UPC, Delgado Rigal commented that AleaSoft was founded in 1999 with the support of this university, promoting research and aid to society. This collaboration has allowed the company to be competitive and a European leader in market forecasts and analysis.

UPC, as AleaSoft’s main technological partner, has been crucial. They have closely collaborated on Artificial Intelligence and Statistics projects with the research group SOCO of the Department of Languages and Computer Systems of the UPC, a scientific reference in Spain. This relationship has shown that effective collaboration between academia and industry can generate beneficial results for both parties.

As for why having 50% of its staff with Ph.D.s is a differentiating factor, Delgado Rigal explained that one of AleaSoft’s success secrets is its highly qualified team in mathematics and statistics, with extensive experience in the energy sector. This level of expertise allows the company to offer innovative solutions based on the latest scientific research. Constant investment in R&D is essential for AleaSoft, ensuring that its forecasts and services are up-to-date and tailored to the needs of its clients.

Regarding the challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence to the global energy market, Delgado Rigal noted that although AleaSoft has been a pioneer in the use of AI for the energy sector, the recent popularity of this technology brings new challenges. Among these challenges, the high energy consumption of Data Centers stands out, which must come from renewable sources to be sustainable. However, this challenge represents an opportunity for renewable energies, helping balance market prices. Additionally, digitization and the integration of multiple data sources increase the risk of cyberattacks, requiring investments in electrical infrastructure.

Regarding the accuracy of AleaSoft’s services based on scientific forecasts and their daily impact on the end user, the interviewee indicated that the quality of AleaSoft’s forecasts is supported by the trust of its clients over 25 years. The company offers market, demand, and renewable energy production forecasts in different time horizons, facilitating both daily operations and risk management and planning.

Regarding the company’s short and medium-term goals with its new structure, Delgado Rigal explained that the objective is to promote the development of renewable energies through six divisions:

– AleaGreen and AleaStorage: Forecasts and studies to finance renewable and storage projects.
– AleaHub: A PPA and renewable assets Marketplace connecting buyers and sellers.
– AleaBlue: Short and medium-term forecasts, useful for operating projects in operation.
– AleaWhite: Data services, reports, news, and webinars.
– AleaConsulting: Strategic consulting for various project stages.

With this structure, AleaSoft aims to provide comprehensive solutions that support the sustainable growth of the renewable energy sector globally.
