In the XI edition of the FrankiNorte Fair held in Vitoria, EROSKI has been awarded with the prize for the “Franchise with the Best Trajectory”. This recognition, supervised by the Spanish Franchise Association (AEF), highlights the remarkable trajectory of EROSKI Franchises during its 46 years in the market.
Jorge Irigoyen, head of General Services at EROSKI Franchises, was in charge of receiving the award. “We are pleased to have been awarded this prize, as it recognizes a 46-year trajectory in the market. First of all, we want to thank our franchisees for the trust shown over all these years, and also the great human team behind EROSKI Franchises,” said Irigoyen.
Since the opening of its first franchised supermarket in 1978 in Berriz, Vizcaya, EROSKI has been deeply committed to the franchise system. With 628 franchised establishments open and a steady pace of new openings, EROSKI has inaugurated 307 franchises in the last five years. The expansion of the franchised network is currently focused on regions such as Catalonia, the Basque Country, Andalusia, Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, and Levante. During 2023, the global investment has amounted to 14 million euros, with the opening of 65 new franchises that have generated 360 jobs. For 2024, EROSKI plans to open an additional 57 franchises.
This award adds to other recognitions obtained by EROSKI in 2023, such as the title of “Best Franchisee of the Year” in the Food category, awarded to Irkus Sainz de Murieta during the National and European Franchise Awards gala, also organized by the AEF. Likewise, EROSKI was voted as “Best Proximity Supermarket and Best Franchise 2024” by consumers in an online vote. In 2023, it also won the “National Franchise Award” for the Best Food Franchisor in Spain, and on previous occasions, it has been awarded as Best Franchise in the Retailing / Commerce category.
