Eternal Friendships: A Year Abroad

Studying abroad is becoming a fundamental experience for many young people, beyond just acquiring academic knowledge. In commemoration of International Friendship Day, The Lemon Tree Education has highlighted the importance of forging genuine and lasting connections among young people from diverse parts of the world.

Oliver Rodríguez-Pearson, spokesperson for the organization, emphasized that friendship is one of the greatest treasures students bring back after completing their academic year abroad. “Studying abroad for a year creates friendships for life. These are experiences that stay with you forever, where lasting friendships and connections are formed,” he stated.

The experience of Paula R. and Rodrigo M., who participated in a program with The Lemon Tree Education, reinforces this idea. Paula describes friendship as an anchor that provided her with support during her adaptation to a new environment. “The connections you make there are very special, and in many cases, they last a lifetime,” she said.

Rodrigo emphasizes the strength of these connections, regardless of geographical distances. “I met Paula in Canada, a place far from our home, but the strength of our friendship made the distance irrelevant,” he explained.

The organization stresses that participating in an international program is not only a unique opportunity for personal and professional growth, but also a chance to develop empathy and cultural understanding. On this International Friendship Day, they invite young people and families to consider the possibility of having an international experience. In doing so, students not only learn about new cultures but also return with an invaluable gift: friendships that will last a lifetime.
