Everything you need to know about PERTE grants for decarbonized manufacturing facilities.

Support for highly efficient and decarbonized manufacturing facilities is an initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism designed to promote new innovative projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

This call, endowed with 140 million euros, is the first part of Line 4 of the Industrial Decarbonization PERTE and is framed within Component 31 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, which seeks the decarbonization of the industry and is financed through Next Generation EU funds.

The objective of this call is to finance industrial tractor projects that allow the creation of new highly efficient and decarbonized manufacturing facilities. These facilities must be innovative and aimed at drastically reducing emissions, using clean technologies and renewable energies in their processes.

A tractor project must consist of the commissioning of a new highly efficient and decarbonized industrial facility. This facility may not use fossil fuels as a source of energy or as raw material in any of its processes, except for the start-up of the installation, for emergency equipment, or similar.

The tractor projects presented must avoid the emission of at least 5,000 tons of CO2 annually, and it is required that the investments presented in the aid applications be completed by the deadline of March 31, 2026.

These grants are aimed at private commercial companies with their own legal personality engaged in industrial activity, legally established in Spain and duly registered in the corresponding register, regardless of their legal form and size, and with a minimum of three years of experience in the industrial sector.

The total budget for the call is 140 million euros distributed as follows:

– 90 million euros in grants.
– 50 million euros in loans.

The grants will be awarded in a competitive process and the minimum budget for each tractor project will be ten million euros.

The application process must be done through the electronic headquarters of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism before September 26, 2024.

The decarbonization of the industry is a necessity from an environmental point of view, but it also offers significant benefits for companies that decide to embrace this change. Some of the key benefits include:

– Reduction of energy costs: By using renewable energies and improving the efficiency of industrial processes, companies can reduce their operating expenses in the long term.
– Improved competitiveness: Decarbonized industries will be better prepared to compete in international markets, especially in a context where environmental regulations are becoming stricter.
– Access to new markets: The transition to a sustainable production model can open up new business opportunities, especially in markets that value environmentally friendly products and processes.
– Regulatory compliance: Companies that adopt clean technologies and reduce their emissions will be better positioned to comply with European and Spanish regulations on carbon emissions.
