Explore the New Aids of the Sustainable and Digital Transportation Support Program 2024.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has launched a new edition of the Sustainable and Digital Transport Support Program (PATSYD), aimed at providing support to private companies and public entities in the transport sector to promote sustainability and digitalization. This project is part of the sustainable mobility component of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, and aims to promote a more efficient and less polluting transport sector.

The first call for proposals of the program took place in 2022, with a budget of 460 million euros. For this second call, which began in the fourth quarter of 2024, the initial budget is 17.05 million euros, with the possibility of increasing by an additional 70 million. This increase will be possible thanks to the remaining funds from the first call and other unexecuted funds from related programs.

Key objectives of PATSYD include improving the operation and efficiency of freight transport, balancing the distribution towards less polluting modes, adopting digital innovations in the sector, and promoting private investment. It also aims to promote digitalization and the adoption of new technologies, which will enhance competitiveness and intermodal collaboration.

The program includes 13 specific measures, distributed in six lines of action that range from railway interoperability and intermodality, to the modernization of railway materials and the promotion of sustainable and connected roads. It also considers the sustainability of maritime and air transport and the digitalization of the sector.

This second call focuses primarily on eight of the original 13 measures. Among them, highlight innovative railway technologies with variable gauges, the construction of intermodal loading docks, and improvements in road transport through safe parking areas and intelligent services. It will also seek adaptation to alternative fuels and the promotion of sustainable pavements.

Interested entities can submit their applications until December 2, 2024 through the Ministry’s electronic headquarters. The grants will be assessed competitively, considering criteria such as the impact, quality, and maturity of the projects. It is expected that the projects will be operational before March 31, 2026, thus meeting the objectives of the Recovery Plan and catalyzing significant changes in the transport sector.
