Government reveals operators who will facilitate the social bond for internet connection.

The Government of Spain has released the list of operators that will collaborate in each Autonomous Community within the framework of the UNICO Social Bonus program, as published on the website of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service. This bonus aims to offer a discount on the ultra-fast broadband internet connection fee to families in vulnerable economic situations.

To carry out this initiative, the Government has allocated a total of 30 million euros, which will be distributed among the Autonomous Communities. These will be responsible for managing the processing of the bonus through their own systems and procedures, as well as establishing criteria to determine the eligibility of applicants as members of vulnerable groups. It is important to note that all individuals receiving the Minimum Living Income will automatically be considered vulnerable for the exclusive purposes of this program.

The UNICO Social Bonus program plans to grant a maximum of 125,000 connectivity bonus concessions to those groups that meet the requirements. The deadline to apply for these grants has been extended until December 31, 2024. Each bonus will offer a maximum amount of 240 euros, distributed in 12 monthly installments, allowing for a monthly reduction of up to 20 euros on the final service bill, excluding VAT.

This investment is part of the UNICO programs, whose purpose is to promote connectivity throughout the Spanish territory. It is part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain and is financed through the European Union’s NextGenerationEU Funds.
