Practical Guide on Parenteral Nutrition Created by Nurses from Gipuzkoa.

A group of nine expert nurses in parenteral nutrition from Gipuzkoa have developed an innovative guide aimed at improving the quality of life of people who depend on this type of feeding. This initiative, supported by the Official College of Nursing of Gipuzkoa (COEGI) and carried out in collaboration with Bexen Medical, aims to clarify the most common doubts that both patients and professionals face in managing parenteral nutrition, an essential method for those whose digestive system cannot process food normally.

The guide presentation is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3rd and will be held in a hybrid format. It will include an in-person session at the COEGI headquarters and online connectivity through the Teams platform. Titled “Parenteral nutrition: key care. From the hospital to home”, the event will start at 4:30 pm, allowing the participation of anyone interested in delving into this topic. To attend, registration is required in advance through an online form.

The guide’s author team, composed of Almudena Álvarez, Ana María Bárcena, Ana Isabel Domínguez, María Luisa Insausti, Ione Labaka, Edurne Lizarazu, Jon Revilla, Rosa María Zapata, and Garazi Murguialday, have worked intensively for months to create a practical and accessible document. They have ensured that the approach of the guide is innovative, designed to provide clear and simple answers to patients’ daily uncertainties. The guide addresses crucial aspects related to the administration, preservation, and monitoring of parenteral nutrition, as well as offering practical recommendations for its management at home.

“The guide also aims to be a valuable tool for nursing professionals, facilitating education and effective information transmission in a single document,” the authors note. During the presentation event, participants will have the opportunity to hear from distinguished speakers, including Almudena Álvarez, Ana Bárcena, Garazi Murguialday, and Jon Revilla, moderated by Susana Otegui, Marketing and Communication Manager at Bexen Medical.

This initiative is shaping up to be an essential resource for both patients and professionals, offering support in managing parenteral nutrition and thus contributing significantly to the well-being and quality of life of those who depend on this type of feeding.
