Samsung Electronics is organizing the Wireless Future Summit in Silicon Valley.

Samsung Electronics has taken a significant step in the future of telecommunications by organizing the Silicon Valley Future Wireless Summit in Mountain View, California, under the theme “Wireless Future for the AI Era.” This event, which comes at a crucial moment for the industry, aims to explore the growing integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into communication systems.

Approximately 80 participants, including representatives from telecommunications, manufacturers, government agencies, and academics from various countries, attended the event. The summit provided a platform to delve into the research and development of next-generation communication technologies native to AI. Angelo Jeongho Park, vice president of the Advanced Communications Research Center at Samsung Research, emphasized that the industry’s focus since the arrival of 5G has been on improving user experience and optimizing performance, largely thanks to AI and advancements in energy efficiency.

The event kicked off with a keynote titled “Shaping the Future of Next-Generation Mobile Communication,” followed by three thematic sessions: “AI Native Communication,” “Sustainability: Energy Saving and Efficiency,” and “Innovations to Drive the Wireless Future.” In each session, participants engaged in interactive discussions about the possible directions of communication technologies.

The “AI Native Communication” session focused on implementing AI in telecommunications, addressing both current opportunities and challenges. The “Sustainability” session emphasized the importance of developing technologies that promote energy-efficient 6G communication systems. Lastly, “Innovations to Drive the Wireless Future” examined the advances needed to differentiate user experiences in a 6G environment.

The summit concluded with a demonstration of AI-based Radio Access Network (RAN) technology, developed in collaboration with partners, promising to enhance the spectral and energy efficiency of base stations. This advancement underscores Samsung’s commitment to leading the transformation towards more efficient and advanced communication systems.

Samsung Electronics continues to position itself as a leader in the field of next-generation communications. In February, it became a founding member of the AI-RAN Alliance and is working with various international entities to research and standardize 6G. A partnership agreement with NTT DOCOMO in August to jointly research the application of AI in future telecommunications further reinforces Samsung’s commitment to advancing user experiences globally.
