Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has made significant changes in its strategic leadership in order to strengthen its competitiveness and steer the company towards a new period of growth, especially focusing on the semiconductor business. These internal movements highlight the importance that Samsung places on memory as an essential pillar of its product portfolio in an increasingly competitive market.
Young Hyun Jun, who has served as Vice President and Head of the Device Solutions Division, has been promoted to CEO. With this change, he will also lead the Memory Business and the Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology, reflecting the crucial importance of these areas for the company.
In a strategic move to enhance its capabilities in the foundry industry, Jinman Han has been promoted to President of the Foundry Business. Han has extensive experience in the semiconductor sector in the United States and has made significant contributions to the development of DRAM, Flash, and solid-state drive memory technology. His expertise will be key to advancing the foundry business.
Additionally, a new Chief Technology Officer position has been created in the foundry business, which will be filled by Seok Woo Nam, an expert in semiconductor processes who previously oversaw Samsung’s FAB Engineering and Operations.
Hansung Ko, former CEO of Samsung Bioepis, will assume leadership of the Future Business Division, with the purpose of developing emerging areas such as biotechnology and exploring new growth opportunities for Samsung.
Other important appointments include Yong Kwan Kim as President of Strategy Management for the DS Division, and Wonjin Lee as President and Head of Global Marketing Office. Hark Kyu Park will also take on a new role within the Business Support Team, after stepping down from his position as Chief Financial Officer.
