The Magic of Christmas Lights up Fuentenovilla.

The town of Fuentenovilla in the province of Guadalajara officially kicked off the Christmas festivities with the traditional lighting ceremony, held this past Saturday, December 7th. This year, the lighting stands out for its spectacular beauty, with La Picota as the iconic element and protagonist of a luminous installation that has captivated residents and visitors alike. The Plaza Mayor and Plaza del Ángel have been transformed into the main stage of the Christmas atmosphere, illuminating every corner and leaving a magical imprint on the town.

The event, which began at 6:00 pm, included the performance of melodious carols that echoed through the streets, and a warm tasting of chocolate and cakes that enveloped attendees in an aura of warmth and community. The festivities will unfold until January 10th, with a schedule full of 27 activities ranging from cultural and traditional events to solidarity and religious initiatives, covering a variety of interests.

The program gives special prominence to children, with activities such as a craft workshop scheduled for December 19th, as well as Christmas parties in local educational centers. One of the highly anticipated proposals is the children’s Christmas scavenger hunt, now in its tenth edition, promising games and fun for the kids.

On December 21st, the locally renowned round of popular carols promises to bring the streets to life starting at 6:30 pm, preceded by a snack at the Social Center. For Christmas celebrations, the community will be able to enjoy a lively mass animated by the Musical Association Our Lady of Solitude, providing the traditional soundtrack of this festive season.

The range of activities extends to storytelling, children’s cinema, and the popular Christmas bingo. New Year’s Eve 2024 will follow a similar line to Christmas Eve, including attractions for children and a lively vermouth with the El Puntillo band. At midnight, the Discomóvil La Bestial will be responsible for welcoming the new year with a vibrant party.

2025 will kick off with a New Year’s mass, once again accompanied by carols performed by the local musical association. The celebrations will culminate on January 10th with the awards ceremony for the campaign “The Five Wise Men”, an initiative that seeks to liven up and promote local commerce.

The Fuentenovilla Town Hall, with the support of various local entities and associations, is responsible for subsidizing this extensive Christmas program. Mayor Montserrat Rivas has emphasized the crucial importance of community collaboration to turn Christmas in a rural setting into an unforgettable and unique experience, strengthening the spirit of cohesion and celebration among its inhabitants.
