Three Years of Windows 365: A Review of Innovation in Security, Management, and Productivity.

On the third anniversary of Windows 365, Microsoft has taken the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of its customers over these three years. Users have managed to adapt to the complex and ever-changing realities of the hybrid work environment, have explored new ways to move aspects of their business to the cloud and have kept employees and critical business operations connected and running, despite a challenging cybersecurity environment. This celebration has also served to recognize the importance of business continuity and resilience, employee security and productivity, all while reducing costs and complexity for IT.

Since its inception, the goal of Windows 365 has been to ensure that corporate data and employee information remain secure, reducing management burden for IT while providing a familiar fast and flexible Windows experience. Windows 365 Cloud PCs allow employees to work from anywhere and access their Windows 11 or Windows 10 desktop, applications, data, and settings on any device.

Major corporations like FedEx, Regeneron, ING, Carlsberg, Nationwide, Crocs, and Kantar have transformed the way their employees work and have improved the resilience of their businesses thanks to Windows 365. Today, Microsoft has announced new updates based on customer feedback and new use cases to keep businesses secure and their employees productive even in times of uncertainty and change.

One of the highlighted innovations is disaster recovery and data resilience in multiple regions for Windows 365 Cloud PCs, adding an additional layer of protection against regional interruptions. This functionality allows the creation of “snapshots” of the Cloud PCs in geographically distant locations defined by the customer, improving recovery capability and business continuity.

Additionally, in response to one of the most frequent requests from customers, Microsoft has launched Windows 365 GPU-enabled Cloud PCs, which support graphics-intensive workloads such as graphic design, image and video rendering, 3D modeling, and data visualization. This enables users to perform intensive graphic work and collaborate from any device using Windows in the cloud.

Another innovation is the launch of the Windows app, which will be available on Windows, macOS, and iOS, and in public preview for Android this fall. This app offers employees one-click access to Windows 365 Cloud PCs, as well as Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Dev Box, and other Microsoft virtualization solutions.

In terms of security, Windows 365 has invested in solutions to protect corporate identity, access, and data. The latest security updates include IT-defined reauthentication policies, internal risk management with forensic evidence, and client key encryption, providing full data control and preventing information leaks.

Furthermore, Windows 365 has been recognized by IDC MarketScape as a leader in Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) for 2023-2024, solidifying its commitment to providing tools and features that drive business success, security, employee experience, and IT management.

Microsoft continues to innovate to maintain productivity from anywhere, providing a secure and efficient way to manage the work environment. With the continued trust and support of users, Windows 365 remains a key player in the evolution of the work environment towards a future driven by artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
