Transportation approves project to adapt pedestrian and bicycle crossings in Plasencia (Cáceres) crossing.

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has given the green light to the public information file and has definitively approved the layout project designed to adapt the Plasencia crossing for the safe transit of pedestrians and bicycles. The investment, amounting to 2.9 million euros (VAT included), aims to promote sustainable, active, and safe mobility along two sections totaling 2.16 kilometers on the N-110 and N-630A roads as they pass through the municipality of Cáceres.

The project involves the humanization of these sections through the adaptation of sidewalks, the construction of bike lanes and landscaped areas, as well as the reorganization and elimination of parking spaces. It also includes the implementation of lighting, signage, markings, and barriers, in addition to other complementary works.

One of the most notable measures includes the construction of a new roundabout at kilometer 404.050 of the N-110 road, also known as Avenida del Valle, in order to calm traffic. Additionally, a new connection road between this and the “Huertas de la Isla” parking lot is planned, which will improve its functionality and facilitate pedestrian and cyclist mobility. This road will not only benefit access to the historic center of Plasencia, but also other points of interest in its surroundings such as the Miralvalle neighborhood, the bus station, and the university campus.

The funding for this project comes from the European NextGenerationEU funds, within the framework of the Recovery Plan, which promotes initiatives for sustainability, energy efficiency, and noise reduction on state roads.
