Unprecedented Success of the 1st Edition of the Severo Ochoa Award for Health Merit

On March 28, the Ateneo de Madrid witnessed the success of the First Edition of the Severo Ochoa Award for Health Merit, an event that highlighted the dedication and professionalism of outstanding doctors and researchers in the field of health. The ceremony, led by Jesús Álvarez, featured the participation of Eva Monzón, who represented the President, and was organized by the European Cultural, Social, and Business Society, with the purpose of recognizing advances in medicine, clinical innovation, and the humanization of healthcare.

Among the awardees, Dr. Akram Loubad stood out, awarded in the category of Excellence in Interventional Cardiology. He directs the Loubad Cardiology Center in Sabadell and has performed over 25,000 coronary angiographies and 3,000 angioplasties in his career of more than 25 years. His center was recognized as a reference in cardiology in 2022 and he has founded an organization that provides cardiology care in Gaza.

Dr. Faride Ojeda Claro received the award for her Excellence in Gynecology and Surgical Obstetrics. With 20 years of experience, she specializes in laparoscopic surgery and telemedicine, dedicating herself to improving the quality of life of her patients at the Santo Domingo Medical Center.

Dr. Jorge de Vicente Solé was also recognized for his excellence in Anesthesiology and his work in the treatment of chronic pain as the founder of the Pain Unit at the Sagrada Familia Clinic. His career includes more than 50 publications and his participation in numerous medical congresses.

Dr. Rodolfo de Porras de Abreu, CEO of PsicoAbreu, was awarded for transforming his network of clinics into a reference for psychological care in Spain, providing effective service to more than 40,000 patients. Dr. Jesús Ignacio Tornero Ruiz, an expert in Urology and laparoscopic surgery, and Dr. Lucas Navarro Montaño, awarded in Aesthetic Medicine, also received recognition for their outstanding careers in their respective fields.

The event not only honored professionals, but also recognized the work of Mr. Josep Lluís Mulero Plata for his contribution to the training of embalmers, as well as the Aless Lequio and Isabel Gemio Foundations, which received special mentions for their support of oncology research and rare and neuromuscular diseases, respectively.

The ceremony ended with a tribute to the organizers, Gonzalo Iglesias and Rosa Sabogal, thanking them for their dedication to the healthcare field. Attendees celebrated the event with a group photo and a cocktail, reaffirming their commitment to excellence in the health sector.
