We announce the preview of Windows 11 Insider Build 22635.4005 (Beta Channel)

Microsoft recently announced the release of the new test version of Windows 11, Build 22635.4005 (KB5040555), which is now available to users enrolled in the Beta Channel. This update is part of Windows 11, version 23H2, and is focused on making general improvements and addressing certain issues detected in earlier versions.

For users who wish to receive the latest features ahead of others, it is recommended to enable a specific option in the Windows Update settings. With this option activated, users will gradually receive the new features as they become available, thus speeding up the update process. For those who do not activate this option, features will be rolled out more slowly and only when they are fully ready.

Among the changes and enhancements in this new version, there are minor general improvements aimed at optimizing the user experience. Among the solved issues, a bug that caused unexpected closures of Windows Explorer (explorer.exe) on some occasions during regular PC use has been addressed.

However, there are still some known issues that Microsoft continues to work on resolving. One of them affects the taskbar, where a new bug has been identified that can cause explorer.exe to close when closing applications from the taskbar. There are also challenges in File Explorer, especially for those in the Beta Channel using the updated sections of “Recent,” “Favorites,” and “Shared.” In these cases, selecting some tabs can cause keyboard focus to be lost.

In terms of input, efforts are being made to address an issue that causes the emoji panel to close when trying to switch to the kaomoji and symbols sections, or after selecting an emoji.

It is important to remember that Beta Channel updates are based on Windows 11 version 23H2 and the tested features may not be officially released, as Microsoft considers various concepts and feedback before making a final decision. Furthermore, many of these new features are gradually introduced using Feature Deployment Control technology, allowing only a subset of users to initially receive them.

For users in the European Economic Area, the Copilot experience in Windows will be gradually downloadable from the Microsoft Store, expanding the availability of this tool in different markets.

This release reaffirms Microsoft’s commitment to constantly improving and evolving its operating system, based on user feedback and adapting developments to the needs identified during daily system use.
