Windows 11 Insider Build 26120.2200 Preview Revealed in Dev Channel

Microsoft has released the latest preview of Windows 11 Insider, corresponding to build 26120.2200 (KB5044376), aimed at users of the developer channel. This update is part of Microsoft’s strategy to continue innovating and improving the user experience by obtaining valuable feedback from their most enthusiastic community.

Among the most notable features of this version are improvements in Windows Studio Effects. These enhancements, powered by artificial intelligence, offer optimizations in cameras and audio, especially for devices with a Neural Processing Unit (NPU). Additionally, a new icon has been added to the system tray that allows quicker access to the Studio Effects settings page. By hovering over this icon, users can now see which application is using the camera at that moment.

Another significant improvement has been made in the Dynamic Lighting settings. When no compatible devices are connected, the page will display a message and disable the brightness and effects controls. Furthermore, direction options such as Forward, Backward, Outward, and Inward have been added for the Wave effect, as well as the Forward direction for the Gradient effect. These new features aim to offer users a greater degree of customization in visual effects.

On the other hand, several critical system corrections have been addressed. Issues in the start menu affecting the app list, as well as errors in the taskbar and settings app causing unexpected app closures, have been fixed. Problems with mouse cursors on high DPI monitors have also been addressed, improving visibility when pressing the CTRL key.

The update for the Dev channel also includes significant security enhancements, such as the addition to the list of drivers at risk of “Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver” (BYOVD) attacks. Other technical issues, such as those related to HTML apps and errors during certain commands, have also been resolved.

However, developers have acknowledged the existence of some pending issues, such as unexpected spacing in the start menu and difficulties accessing Dev Drives within WSL. These issues are currently under investigation to be addressed in future updates.

It is crucial to remember that Dev channel users receive updates of Windows 11, version 24H2, in a format that allows previewing future technological innovations. Microsoft has emphasized that some of these features may not reach the general public and may be removed or modified based on the feedback received.

The company reaffirms its commitment to the community, promising constant development and localization of new features, and thanks all “Windows Insiders” for their support and active participation in improving the operating system.
