The Instituto de Turismo de España (Turespaña), through the Sociedad Mercantil Estatal de Gestión Inmobiliaria de Patrimonio (SEGIPSA), has published the Resolution awarding contracts for the improvement, conservation, restoration, and enhancement of the Santiago de Compostela, Úbeda, La Granja, Ronda, and Lorca paradores as part of the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, funded by European Union-Next Generation funds.
The overall project, managed by Turespaña, includes improvement, conservation, restoration, and enhancement works in 40 properties considered Cultural Interest Properties (BIC), which will take place in 12 autonomous communities and the autonomous city of Ceuta with a total estimated investment of 89.5 million euros.
The total amount of contracts awarded in this tender amounts to over 14 million euros, with the works at the Santiago parador, estimated at 11 million euros (9,095,374.74 € without taxes), being the largest investment of the first phase of this program.
After examining the offers that meet all the requirements of the specifications and their quality-price ratio, it has been agreed to award the works at the Santiago Parador to the company EDHINOR, S.A.
The works at the La Granja Parador will be carried out by REHABISORIA, REHABILITACIÓN Y CONSTRUCCIÓN DE OBRAS Y MONUMENTOS S.L.; those at the Ronda Parador by TÉCNICAS PARA LA RESTAURACIÓN Y CONSTRUCCIONES, S.A. (TRYCSA); those at the Úbeda Parador by FORTRESS RESTAURACIÓN DE MONUMENTOS S.L. and the works at the Lorca Parador have been awarded to PATRIMONIO INTELIGENTE, S.L.
The timeline for the execution of the works varies at each parador, ranging from 8 months at the La Granja and Ronda paradores to 19 months at the Santiago parador, starting from the signing of the corresponding contracts, which are being formalized, once 10 calendar days have passed since their award.
The investment made in the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan of the Government of Spain, specifically in Component 14 focused on Tourism, aims to modernize the sector from a comprehensive perspective, including the conservation of historical heritage for tourism and promoting the economy and sustainability of these destinations.
At the Santiago Parador, the actions will include the restoration of the facades facing the Plaza del Obradoiro and the west side, the Renaissance courtyards, the historic eaves, and conservation work in the Royal Chapel and its dome. Among other improvements, efforts will be made to address humidity issues in the facades facing San Francisco street and Obradoiro, as well as in the lighting of the courtyards and facade elements.
On the other hand, actions at the other four paradores include facades conservation at the La Granja and Ronda paradores, facade, courtyard, and fountain conservation at the Úbeda Parador, and restoration of archaeological remains and the synagogue at the Lorca Parador, including monumental lighting.
