Ferrovial and BIM: Sustainable Commitment for a Better Future

Ferrovial has received recognition for being one of the most sustainable companies in the world, according to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), a prestigious index that evaluates the sustainability of leading publicly traded companies globally. This Spanish multinational, known for its leadership in the infrastructure sector, ranks among the top rated in the index, alongside other prominent national firms such as ACCIONA, Inditex, and Endesa.

The recent evaluation of the DJSI, which has been conducted annually since 1999, includes the top 10% of the most influential companies in each sector. In the financial sector, BBVA has shined by achieving, for the fifth consecutive year, the highest score in the European category, tying for third place globally thanks to its commitment to transparency, human rights, and customer care. Caixabank and Bankinter have also performed notably on this list.

In the energy sector, Endesa and ACCIONA continue to be leaders in sustainability, while Enagás solidifies its position in the index after 17 mentions, showing significant progress in areas such as environmental management and community relations. Inditex, known for its strong leadership in the textile market, is still implementing initiatives to ensure that its suppliers use clean technologies and optimize their resource consumption.

Despite relocating its headquarters to the Netherlands, Ferrovial continues to be listed on the Ibex 35 and celebrates 23 years of presence in the DJSI, driven by a firm commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The company has embraced the integration of innovative technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), a tool that facilitates collaboration and efficient project management. Tomaso Cardia, BIM Manager at Ferrovial, has highlighted that this methodology offers significant advantages in decision-making by centralizing information in a digital model accessible to all project stakeholders.

In the current business context, the combination of innovation and sustainability is seen as a pressing need, paving the way towards a future that respects the environment more and promotes responsible practices across all industries.
