There are many ways in which you can create a shelf, from complex wooden structures to the simplest shelf held by two angular brackets. In this post, we’ll share with you the process of making invisible bookshelves with books. Like this, you can create a curious effect, as if the books where levitating in your room.
What do we need for making bookshelves with books?
First of all, you need to know the materials and tools you’ll need for creating invisible bookshelves.
- Books
- Bracket: size L
- Carpet knife
- Pencil
- Small and large wood screws
- Tape measure (or a ruler, otherwise)
- Glue
- Drill
Then, you need to measure the book well in order to center the bracket. Measure it well so that the shelf isn’t unbalanced and it becomes useless.
When you find the center, mark the outline of the bracket with the pencil.
After that, with the carpet knife, cut the bracket’s outline so that it fits in perfectly and doesn’t stick out.
The final result is something similar to the pictures below.
Cut the part of the volume that sticks out. As you can see in the images below, you should try that the bracket doesn’t sticks out of the book.
Time to work with the screws: when you have everything ready, you can screw the leaves of the book with a drill. Like this, you’ll avoid that it opens and it will remain as compact as possible.
